Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, declared on Monday that personnel from Scheduled Castes will now be given preference for advancement in Group A and B government posts. The CM announced during the session of the Haryana Assembly that there will be a 20% reservation for SCs in promotions. "During the Vidhansabha session, Chief Minister Shri @mlkhattar made a significant announcement: Scheduled Castes will receive reservation in promotion for Group A and B category government positions. He has announced a 20% reservation for members of Scheduled Castes in promotions, according to a post on X from the state administration.
The change occurred after Khattar said in February of this year that SC employees would have preference in government employment. After identifying all of these cadres, he had stated that the quota will be determined in three months.
The Scheduled Caste families who want to establish small and micro businesses will now receive a 20% discount on the purchase of land, instead of only receiving 10% reservation for the same, the Chief Minister had also said.
